Preparing for Your Appointment

01Do tattoos hurt?

Tattooing does involve some level of discomfort, but everyone’s experience is different. Pain levels depend on factors such as your individual pain tolerance, the placement of the tattoo, and your skin type. Some areas may feel relatively mild, while others can be more sensitive.

02How long will my tattoo take?

The duration of a tattoo appointment depends on the size, placement, complexity, and style of the design. Even smaller tattoos can sometimes take longer than expected. Since every tattoo and every person’s skin is different, your artist will provide a more accurate time estimate during the consultation process.

03How do I prepare for a tattoo appointment?

Please avoid shaving the area beforehand, as this can irritate the skin and affect the tattooing process. Eat a good meal before your appointment. Bring snacks and drinks, especially for longer sessions. Stay well hydrated. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as it can thin the blood and impact the tattooing process.

04Do you use numbing creams?

We recommend discussing numbing cream options with your artist before your appointment. While some products can be effective, we generally prefer to avoid them where possible, as they may alter the skin’s texture and, in some cases, cause allergic reactions or irritation. Your artist will be able to advise you on the safest option for your tattoo.

05Can I bring a friend?

Of course. We have a comfortable waiting area where friends or family members are welcome to accompany you. We simply ask that you keep guests to a reasonable number so that your artist can maintain a safe, comfortable, and professional working environment.

Your Tattoo & Design

06Can I get colour tattoos on darker skin?

Absolutely. However, not every colour will appear the same on every skin tone. Factors such as your natural undertones and colour theory play an important role in determining how colours will heal and appear over time. If you’re interested in colour work, your artist will guide you on the best options to achieve the strongest and most vibrant result.

07Can I cover scars or stretch marks with a tattoo?

In many cases, yes. However, it’s important to discuss this with your artist beforehand, as scar tissue and stretch marks vary greatly from person to person. Your artist will assess the area and advise on what is possible while ensuring the health and integrity of the skin.

08When will I see my design?

Once your deposit has been paid, your artist will begin working on your design. In most cases, designs are sent closer to your appointment date, depending on the artist’s schedule. This still allows enough time to discuss and make any necessary adjustments before your session.

Aftercare & Healing

09How do I look after my tattoo?

We use Saniderm to help protect your fresh tattoo during the initial healing stage. You’ll receive a detailed aftercare guide explaining exactly how to care for your tattoo, which your artist will also go through with you in person. A printed copy will be provided on the day, and if you misplace it, you’ll have access to our online aftercare resources and video guides.

10What are the dos and don’ts after getting a tattoo?

Do:

  • 01Wash your tattoo daily with a gentle, fragrance-free soap.
  • 02Moisturise 2–3 times a day using a fragrance-free cream.
  • 03Wash your hands before touching or applying cream to your tattoo.
  • 04Stay in touch with your artist and reach out if you have any concerns or questions.

Don’t:

  • 01Expose your tattoo to direct sun or tan while healing.
  • 02Swim in pools, oceans, dams, or hot tubs until fully healed.
  • 03Pick, scratch, or peel the tattoo, even if it becomes itchy.
  • 04Use oil-based products unless specifically recommended.
  • 05Touch or play with the tattoo unnecessarily, as it is essentially an open wound during healing.
11Can I get a touch-up on my tattoo?

Yes. We offer one complimentary touch-up session because we take pride in our work and want your tattoo to heal as beautifully as possible, as it is on your body forever. Any additional touch-up sessions after the first will incur a charge.
